About Us

The Company

Unpacked was formed in 2004 and their current production, Funeral Games, has been developed with the Nightingale Theatre in Brighton. The company tells darkly comedic stories, using high-octane physicality, new writing, object animation and a distinctive puppetry aesthetic.

Our work explores theatrical storytelling through interactive play with human bodies, a distinctive puppetry aesthetic and real physical challenges. Our search for originality in form, style and character technique is inspired by frequent work with invited practitioners of all disciplines from directors to scientists, athletes to welders.

We aim for all audiences to take something home with them, be that a memory, a smile, or a desire to start animating their umbrella.

The five core members of Unpacked met and trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
